Salesforce Adds Cresta: What It Means After the Braze Deal

We’d barely finished our tea after the Braze news when Salesforce went shopping again! Less than two weeks after agreeing to buy Braze, it has signed a deal to acquire Cresta, a voice AI company for contact centres.

If Braze was Salesforce learning to send the perfect push notification, Cresta is Salesforce learning to answer the phone. One handles the messages brands send. The other handles the calls customers make, usually after a message has gone wrong.

As with Braze, nothing changes for customers today, so there’s no need to rip out your contact centre before lunch. Here’s what was announced, how it links to the Braze deal, and what CRM and service teams should actually do about it.

The Deal at a Glance

What Cresta Does

Cresta builds AI for the bit of customer service everyone dreads: the phone call. Its platform does two jobs:

  • Voice agents that handle complex, high-volume customer calls from start to finish. Customers can talk naturally and even interrupt, which is more than most hold music allows.
  • A helping hand for human agents, with real-time guidance during calls, analysis of every interaction, and coaching afterwards.

Cresta also marks its AI agents against the same quality standards as its human ones, so the robots don’t get an easier appraisal. Its customers include Marriott, Comcast and Alaska Airlines.

Why Salesforce Wants Cresta

Salesforce’s argument is simple. Customer calls are full of useful insight, but that insight usually sits apart from the customer record and from the tools teams use to act on it. Salesforce brings the customer history and the workflows. Cresta brings the understanding of the conversation and the voice agents. Put them together and every call can be linked to an outcome: whether the issue was resolved, the customer stayed, or revenue followed.

Kishan Chetan, who runs Agentforce and Service Cloud at Salesforce, described voice as “the channel where service is hardest to get right and matters most to customers.”

Cresta CEO Ping Wu said “the deal will put real-time conversation intelligence directly inside Salesforce’s service platform.”

One promise in the announcement matters a lot: once the deal closes, Cresta will keep supporting the contact centre and telephony platforms its customers already use. Salesforce doesn’t sell its own telephony, so many Cresta customers run on other vendors’ systems.

How Cresta Connects to the Braze Deal

In our breakdown of the Braze acquisition, we argued that Salesforce was buying the real-time, mobile-first engagement that Marketing Cloud has struggled to deliver on its own. Cresta follows the same pattern on the service side. Salesforce isn’t building these capabilities from scratch. It’s buying the specialists that already do them well.

Taken together, the two deals cover both ends of the customer relationship:

  • Braze covers the messages a brand sends: push, in-app, email, SMS and WhatsApp, triggered by what customers do.
  • Cresta covers the conversations a customer starts: support calls, handled by AI agents or by humans with AI help.

Our interpretation, not Salesforce’s wording: the aim is for marketing behaviour and service conversations to feed the same customer record, so each team can act on what the other knows.

If You’re a Service Cloud Customer

This is the group most likely to benefit, but not yet. Until the deal closes in early 2027, Cresta and Service Cloud remain separate products. In the meantime:

  • Get your case and contact data in order. Call insight is only useful when it links to clean customer records.
  • Decide which outcomes you want to measure. Resolution, retention and revenue only mean something if they’re defined and tracked consistently today.
  • Don’t rebuild your voice set-up around a roadmap that doesn’t exist yet.

If You’re a Cresta Customer on Another Platform

Salesforce has said Cresta will keep supporting the telephony and contact centre platforms you use now. That’s a statement of intent, not a contract. Check your agreement for change-of-control terms, and ask your account team to put the platform commitment and its timescale in writing.

If You’re a Braze or Marketing Cloud Customer

Cresta doesn’t change the advice from our Braze article: don’t panic, and don’t pause. Document your journeys and keep your logic portable. What Cresta adds is a hint at the bigger picture, where service conversations could eventually shape what marketing sends. That makes it worth bringing your marketing and service teams together now to agree a shared view of the customer.

If You’re Choosing a CRM Platform Right Now

The Salesforce ecosystem is getting bigger by the week, which makes it harder to compare like for like. Judge each platform on what it does for you today, ask for product commitments in writing, and make sure your data can pack its bags if it needs to. If you’re starting from scratch, our guide to the best CRM, ESP and CDP platforms on the market in 2026 compares the main contenders, with or without a Salesforce logo.

What We Don’t Know Yet

  • The price Salesforce is paying
  • How Cresta will connect to Agentforce, and how it will sit alongside Fin
  • Pricing and packaging for Service Cloud customers
  • How long the telephony commitment lasts

We’ll update this article as details are confirmed.

Our Take

Salesforce has spent 2026 buying the specialists rather than building their capabilities itself. Braze gave it real-time engagement. Cresta gives it voice. The pieces point towards a single platform for every customer interaction, but owning the parts isn’t the same as making them work together. That integration will take years.

Until then, the advice hasn’t changed. The teams that get the most from any platform are the ones with clean data, clear lifecycle strategies and well-documented processes. None of that depends on who owns the software.
